Fuseco’s Number One Installation Experts
As Fuseco Pty. Ltd.’s preferred installation specialist, Fourth Phase Electrics was engaged to install an SVG unit at the True Foods plant in regional Maryborough, Victoria. Fuseco’s National Sales Manager, David Gale, worked with us closely to complete an initial site analysis. We proceeded to lead an informational session with the company’s entire engineering and maintenance team, and the company’s CEO and senior project managers, explaining the measurable core benefits of installing Power Factor Correction. The immediate benefits include the provision of proven and instant Returns on Investment due to reduced power factor surcharges by way of kVAr, and extended expectations that the existing HV substation will now have an optimised and balanced supply, as well as increased longevity of use into the future.
Minimal Shutdown Required
Within the existing main switchboard room, we installed a 200kVAr SVG unit, with scope for a second 200kVAr SVG unit to be installed in parallel. Fed via a dedicated sub-board, the install was future-proofed so that there was no necessity for a complete site shutdown to install the second module. To maximise True Foods’ busy production schedule, the entire works were successfully completed with minimal disruption to some 300 employees and multiple production lines. Due to our company’s capacity to offer 24/7 service, the HV sub shutdown was completed well and truly within a specified after-hours timeframe – leaving the client expressing their extreme gratitude for our careful planning, communication processes, and thorough pre-preparation works prior to the shutdown event.
Forward Thinking
With the installation of the first 200kVAr unit, Fourth Phase instantly brought True Foods’ power factor from around 0.58 lagging, straight to 0.92. This significant increase will deliver a huge cost saving moving forward. When the remaining 200kVAr is installed, it is anticipated that there will be an even more remarkable leap to attain power factor figures of around 0.99.
